Talley Leadership
Development Program

Spring 2024

The Talley Leadership Development Program provided a transformative opportunity to explore leadership through both structured learning and personal reflection. Over the course of a ten-week program, I engaged in workshops focused on personal values, ethical decision making, communication styles, team development, diversity and inclusion and leadership purpose. Through coaching sessions and self-assessment tools such as Clifton Strengths connected to my role as a Dean’s Page, I developed a deeper understanding of my leadership identity and core strengths. The program emphasized applying theory to real world experiences, encouraging me to critically evaluate my communication style, leadership assumptions, and ethical decision-making processes. Writing a comprehensive reflection paper allowed me to synthesize these experiences and articulate a clear leadership philosophy grounded in self awareness and empowerment. Ultimately, the program strengthened my confidence as a leader and equipped me with practical strategies for supporting others’ growth, and approaching complex challenges with intentionality and reflection.

Head Dean's Page

Fall 2025 - Spring 2026

Advancing to the role of Head Dean’s Page within the Wilson College of Textiles marked a significant milestone in my leadership development and professional growth. In this position, I oversee scheduling and coordination for the Dean’s Pages, collaborate with faculty and administrators to support college initiatives and mentor student team members in their professional and personal development. The role requires balancing leadership responsibilities alongside academic commitments while strengthening skills in organization and strategic planning. Through mentoring peers, I learned that effective leadership centers on empowerment rather than direction which requires adaptability and an understanding of individual strengths and communication styles. Serving as a liaison between students, faculty and administrators enhanced my professionalism and confidence in collaborative environments. This experience reshaped my understanding of leadership as a practice rooted in service and continuous growth, while reinforcing my aspiration to pursue people focused leadership roles that foster meaningful impact.
